The world's leading independent sample introduction specialist.
Omaha, Nebraska, USA. MAD Technology holds the Sub-Saharan Africa distributorship for Teledyne CETAC Technologies and Teledyne Photon Machines.
From the U-5000 to the Iridia.
Founded in 1985 in Ames, Iowa, CETAC Technologies built its reputation on the U-5000 Ultrasonic Nebulizer, introduced in 1989 — an instrument that redefined achievable detection limits for ICP-OES by desolvating the aerosol before it reached the plasma. The autosampler line followed close behind, with the ASX-500 arriving in 1993.
The company's specialism has stayed constant even as its ownership changed: sample introduction and handling for elemental analysis, and — since a 2010 alliance and subsequent 2011 acquisition brought Photon Machines into the fold — laser ablation. CETAC is now part of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, operating under the Teledyne LABS umbrella alongside Teledyne Photon Machines, Teledyne ISCO and Teledyne Leeman Labs.
The 2019 launch of the Iridia laser ablation system, with its Cobalt low-dispersion ablation cell, is the most recent expression of the same specialism the company was founded on in 1985: getting a sample into a spectrometer with the least possible loss of signal or introduction of error.

Four product categories, four distinct analytical needs.
Automation
ASX-series autosamplers from micro-volume (ASX-110FR) to extended-rack high-throughput (XLR-860); ADX-500 auto-dilution; ASXpress Plus rapid introduction; ENC-500 anti-contamination enclosure.
Nebulizers & Sample Introduction

Laser Ablation (Teledyne Photon Machines)
Iridia (193 nm excimer, current flagship); Analyte Excite and Analyte G2 (193 nm excimer); LSX-213 G2+ (213 nm Nd:YAG); LSX-266 (266 nm Nd:YAG); Fusions CO₂ and Fusions Diode for noble gas geochronology; Excite Pharos; ExiCheck.
Mercury Analysis
QuickTrace CVAAS and CVAFS systems, with optional ASX-260/ASX-520 autosamplers for unattended runs.
Independent, and the introduction path most method libraries assume.
The category-independent specialist
Teledyne CETAC does not build spectrometers, so its sample introduction range serves Agilent, Thermo Fisher, PerkinElmer, Shimadzu and Analytik Jena installations alike — regardless of who sold the instrument.
Capabilities hardware alone can't provide
Ultrasonic desolvation, membrane desolvation and laser ablation unlock sub-ppt PGE/REE detection, unattended automation and high-speed spatial imaging that a bare spectrometer cannot reach on its own.
A single Sub-Saharan African channel
MAD Technology holds the Sub-Saharan Africa distributorship for the full Teledyne CETAC and Photon Machines range, with local stock and service behind it.
