The highest-value content on the site: every ICP in South Africa, regardless of manufacturer, consumes torches, nebulizers, spray chambers and injectors — and MAD can supply them locally, for any brand.
ICP and ICP-MS torches, nebulizers, spray chambers and injectors are wear items. They sit centimetres from a plasma at 6,000–10,000 °C while corrosive aerosol passes through them continuously. They are consumed, not components — typically torches every few months, nebulizers and spray chambers as needed, cones more rarely. Through Precision Glassblowing, MAD Technology supplies these consumables for all major spectrometer brands, from local stock: same-day or next-day supply versus multi-week international lead times.

One-piece torches: the entire assembly as a single fused unit — simpler, cheaper; the whole assembly is replaced when the injector fails.
Demountable torches: outer tubes and injector are separate. When the injector fails — the most common failure mode — only the injector is replaced. Typically the economic choice for high-matrix mining and industrial laboratories.
Injector materials: quartz (standard), alumina (for HF work — quartz is attacked by HF), other ceramics/sapphire for specialist applications.
Concentric glass nebulizers — the standard for most applications; robust, general purpose, compatible with most spray chambers.
Scott double-pass: higher matrix tolerance, larger internal volume, slower washout — suited to high-solids samples.
Cyclonic: better sensitivity, faster washout — the most common current choice.
Baffled cyclonic (Precision Glassblowing design): adds a baffle for improved droplet filtering over a standard cyclonic chamber.
Injector bore: standard, narrow (improved sensitivity) or wide (high dissolved solids).
Cones: nickel (general purpose) or platinum (HF-containing matrices and organic solvents — more resistant, longer-lived).
Pump tubing: peristaltic pump tubing for sample uptake and drain — a regular replacement item.
The strategic argument. Precision Glassblowing states that the majority of ICP torches on the market globally are manufactured by them, including as an approved OEM supplier to major instrument manufacturers. The same consumable inside a spectrometer manufacturer's own-brand torch may be a Precision Glassblowing product — buying through MAD means equivalent quality with local supply, local stock and a supplier who knows the South African market.
